Maybe nobody ever will.The Hard Problem is a journal built around that uncertainty, a place for essays, experiments, and conversations that take the mind seriously as a genuine mystery instead of a solved textbook topic.
We publish student writing alongside guest pieces from researchers and philosophers, run interactive demonstrations that let readers encounter the puzzles of the mind firsthand, and write short, accessible primers on the field's central debates for readers meeting them for the first time. The goal isn't consensus. It's paying honest, careful attention to questions that resist easy answers.
